What makes pool construction on the North Coast different
Coastal work is not simply inland work moved to the sea. Four conditions change the specification.
Salt air and corrosion. Airborne salt attacks fixings, ladders, light housings, plant-room equipment, and reinforcement wherever cover is thin. We specify appropriate stainless grades, protect the plant room, and hold concrete cover to the design figure rather than to whatever the formwork allows. This is the difference between a pool that ages gracefully and one that stains and pits by season three.
Sandy ground and high water tables. Coastal sand is loose and can carry a high water table close to the shoreline. That affects excavation support, backfill compaction, and in some cases construction dewatering and hydrostatic relief. We establish ground and water conditions at survey, before pricing, because these items cannot be improvised later.
A short building season. Most owners want the pool finished before summer, and many resorts restrict heavy work during the season. The practical answer is to survey and design in autumn, build through winter and spring, and commission before the season opens. We schedule backwards from your first summer rather than forwards from the day you call.
Long closure periods. A Sahel pool typically sits unused for months. Winterising properly, sizing filtration for real bather loads and wind-blown sand, and putting a maintenance visit plan in place are what stop owners returning in June to green water and a failed pump.
